What does a Support Worker do?

Support Workers help individuals live as independently as possible. Your duties will vary depending on the person’s needs, but may include:
Encouraging independence and offering emotional support
Assisting with daily tasks, such as meal preparation and household activities
Supporting social and community engagement
Promoting personal care and overall wellbeing
Helping people with mental health needs, learning disabilities, or complex conditions

What is a Healthcare Assistant (HCA)?

Healthcare Assistants work alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide essential care and support. Your responsibilities may include:
Enteral or parenteral nutritional support, including PEG, PEJ, NG, and NJ feeding, as well as TPN and HPN management.
Tracheostomy care, invasive or non-invasive ventilation, including CPAP, BiPAP, and mechanical ventilatory support.
Catheter Care, Digital Rectal Stimulation, bedsore prevention
Mental health crisis packages or Learning disability with behaviours that challenge
Supporting with medication administration
Complex Mental Health conditions with additional complex care needs

What you need to register with us

To start working in a Support Worker role with Express Nursing, you’ll need:
At least six months of UK care experience
The right to work in the UK (we are unable to provide sponsorship) and cannot accept 20 hour VISA candidates as our shifts are generally 12 hours and clients we work with might need more than 1 shift a week to be covered!
A valid enhanced DBS (If you don’t have one, we can help you apply and we’ll cover the cost!)
Competency in delivering care within Mental Health, Complex Care or Learning Disabilities and Autism
Some roles may require a driving licence and access to a vehicle, especially in rural areas.
