As a Ward Nurse, you will be at the heart of patient care. You help people during important moments—when they are unwell, recovering, or needing support. In your day-to-day work, you will check on patients regularly and notice changes early. You will take vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and breathing, and monitor symptoms and pain levels. You will follow care plans and report any concerns quickly to the nurse in charge or the doctor. Your awareness and quick action help keep patients safe and improve outcomes.
You will also provide hands-on nursing care. This includes supporting patients with washing, dressing, eating, using the toilet, and moving safely. You will respect your patients’ dignity and privacy at all times, because your patients are more than their condition—they are people who deserve care with empathy.
You will manage medicines safely in line with policies and prescriptions. You will keep clear and accurate records of observations, treatments, and progress. This helps ensure the whole team understands your patients’ needs and can provide consistent care.
You will work with doctors, therapists, health care assistants, and other nurses. You will share updates during handovers so everyone stays informed. You will also talk with patients and families—answering questions, explaining next steps in simple terms, and offering reassurance when it matters.
You will follow infection prevention and control standards, safeguarding guidance, and safe moving and handling procedures. You will help maintain a clean, organised, and supportive ward environment.

About the Role:
Ward RGN (Registered General Nurse) is responsible for providing direct, comprehensive, and patient-centered clinical care to individuals admitted to a hospital ward. They act as the primary point of contact for patients, coordinating with doctors, therapists, and families to manage treatment plans from admission through to discharge.
