A Cardiac Registered General Nurse (Cardiac RGN) is a nurse who looks after patients with heart and blood vessel problems. One of the main duties of a Cardiac RGN is to monitor the patient's condition. They regularly check blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, breathing, and oxygen levels. They also observe the patient's symptoms, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, or irregular heartbeat, and quickly report any changes to the doctor. This helps prevent serious complications and ensures the patient receives timely treatment.
Cardiac RGNs give medicines as prescribed by the doctor and make sure patients receive the correct dose at the right time. They also prepare patients for heart procedures such as ECGs, angiograms, and other cardiac tests. During and after these procedures, they closely monitor the patient's condition and provide the necessary care to support recovery.
Another important part of the role is educating patients and their families. Cardiac RGNs explain the importance of taking medicines regularly, eating a healthy diet, exercising safely, stopping smoking, and attending follow-up appointments. They answer questions, provide emotional support, and help patients understand how to manage their heart condition at home.

To be successful, a Cardiac RGN needs good communication skills, patience, compassion, and the ability to stay calm during emergencies. About the Role:
As a Cardiology Senior Staff Nurse duties include Providing a specialist private cardiac service to patients requiring diagnostic and interventional procedures involving angiography, angioplasty, electrophysiology and pacemakers. Being involved in the whole patient journey from pre-assessment to discharge ensuring patient’s individual needs are met and planned accordingly. Working with the cardiology ward/recovery staff ensuring patients are admitted and prepared for Cath Lab procedures ensuring appropriate investigations are done and accurately recording documentation.
