About the role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially aware Registered Manager (RMN/RGN) to lead and grow a nurse-led complex care and residential care with nursing service supporting high acuity and complex needs patients, including forensic level 4, Section 17, challenging behaviours, and step-down hospital discharges.

This role is ideal for a dynamic leader with startup experience who has successfully established and grown complex care services and developed strong relationships with ICBs, Local Authorities, Case Management Companies, and NHS discharge teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for launching and scaling the service to at least 5 care packages within the first 12 months, while ensuring exceptional clinical standards and regulatory compliance.

In your role as CQC Registered Manager – Complex Care (RGN/RMN) you will deliver:

  • Successful CQC registration and compliance
  • Recruitment and development of clinical team
  • Mobilisation of high acuity care packages
  • Achieving minimum 5 complex care packages within 12 months
  • Building strong commissioner and referrer relationships

Key Responsibilities

Service Leadership & Management

  • Register with CQC as the Registered Manager for the complex care service.
  • Lead and manage a nurse-led complex care and residential care with nursing service for high acuity patients.
  • Ensure full CQC compliance, governance, and quality assurance systems.
  • Develop clinical policies, care pathways, and operational frameworks for the service.
  • Recruit, manage, and develop clinical leads, nurses, and complex care teams.

Clinical Oversight

  • Provide clinical leadership for high acuity complex care packages including:
    • Neurological conditions
    • Brain and spinal injuries
    • Forensic mental health
    • Learning disabilities and autism
    • Behaviour that challenges
  • Ensure safe delivery of nurse-led interventions and complex care protocols.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed.

Business Development & Growth

  • Play a key role in business development, securing new care packages through existing networks and relationships.
  • Build strong relationships with:
    • Integrated Care Boards (ICBs)
    • Local Authorities
    • Hospital discharge teams
    • Case management companies
    • Solicitor firms (catastrophic injury cases)
  • Support the organisation in winning and mobilising complex care packages.

Growth Target

  • Lead the service to secure a minimum of 5 complex care packages within the first 6 months.
  • Support the development of single occupancy high acuity placements and residential care with nursing services.

Operational Management

  • Oversee mobilisation of new care packages and care teams.
  • Manage staffing levels, rotas, and clinical supervision.
  • Ensure safe service delivery, incident management, and reporting.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RMN or RGN)
  • Eligible to register with CQC as Registered Manager
  • Minimum 5 years experience in complex care or residential care with nursing
  • Proven experience working with high acuity patients
  • Experience working with ICBs, Local Authorities, and NHS services
  • Experience setting up or scaling a startup complex care service
  • Demonstrable business development experience and ability to win packages
  • Strong clinical leadership and governance knowledge
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with forensic level 4 patients
  • Experience managing single occupancy placements
  • Experience supporting Section 17 or step-down patients
  • Existing contacts within ICBs, Local Authorities, and case management companies
  • Experience mobilising new services or new care packages
