About the role

As a Mental Health Nurse you will provide specialised care, support, and treatment to a level 4 Mental Health patient in a 3:2:1 package in the community.

Key Responsibilities

Express Nursing are working with a CQC Registered provider to support staffing requirements on a rota basis for complex mental health patients.

Each package of care is on a 3:2:1 basis and you will be required to support the patient, during transition to the placement and whilst on Section 17 leave. You will then be working on a fixed rota with the patient living in a community setting, promoting Positive Behaviours.

As a Mental Health Nurse you will be required to provide a specialist care provision with enhanced levels of support which allow people with continuing challenging behaviour and high support needs to be cared for in the least restrictive setting possible, but within a community setting which is robust and structured enough to meet their ongoing needs and risks.

Role Responsibilities

  • To provide leadership to less experienced staff to ensure the development of best care practice and optimal outcomes for clients.
  • To provide therapeutic and personal care to the patient.
  • Promote the rights of patient to be treated with dignity and respect in every aspect of their lives
  • Respect the confidences of patients, except where to do so would result in harm to a patient, damage to the property or the commission of a criminal offence.
  • Establish supportive relationships with patients and encourage the development of stable relationships between the patient and other staff, and their families and friends.
  • Promote the emotional health and self-esteem of the patient and support them through changes in living circumstances and personal relationships.
  • Support patient in making their own choices and decisions to the maximum of their capability and ensure that the needs and wishes of the patient is fully considered in any decision relating to them.
  • Ensure the protection of the patient from significant harm, by exercising vigilance, observing changes in the patient's behaviour or appearance, and complying fully with the Vulnerable Children or Adults’ policy.

Candidate Requirements

Applications will only be considered if you have:

  • PMVA 3 day training
  • Practical Immediate Life Support Training Certificate
  • Full immunisation History/ Serology Reports

You will undertake a teams interview with the Registered Manager and be required to complete a full day of induction and orientation where you will receive training and full understanding of the Care Plan, the patients background and how to best support the individual.

All shifts will be supported by 2 HCA's and you will have access to the Registered Manager for any escalations or support required.
