About the role

We are a leading provider of specialist residential care for individuals with high acuity needs, including Level 4 forensic patients. Express Nursing are looking to enhance our leadership team and recruit a Clinical Lead – Complex Care & Residential Nursing.

Our mission is to deliver outstanding care in safe, single-occupancy homes, working closely with Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and Local Authorities. We are seeking an experienced Clinical Lead to oversee clinical governance, drive business growth, and ensure the highest standards of care.

The Clinical Lead will provide strategic and operational leadership across our complex care residential services. This role requires a highly skilled nurse with experience managing high acuity patients, including Level 4 forensic cases. The successful candidate will be responsible for clinical oversight, staff leadership, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and business development by securing care packages from ICBs, Local Authorities, and other referral sources.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Lead within Complex Care & Residential Nursing your role will include:

Clinical Leadership & Governance:

  • Oversee clinical standards and ensure compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding policies, and professional standards.
  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team of nurses and support staff in delivering complex care.
  • Develop and implement care plans for high acuity and forensic patients in single-occupancy residential settings.
  • Conduct regular clinical audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Provide specialist nursing advice, supervision, and mentorship to staff.

Operational & Business Development:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with ICBs, Local Authorities, case management companies, and other referral sources.
  • Identify opportunities and bring in new care packages to expand the service.
  • Represent the organisation at multi-agency meetings and professional forums.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and service development initiatives.

Training & Staff Development:

  • Ensure all staff are appropriately trained, competent, and supported in their roles.
  • Lead continuous professional development initiatives to maintain a highly skilled workforce.
  • Facilitate reflective practice and clinical supervision sessions.

Candidate Requirements

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Registered Nurse with NMC registration.
  • Significant experience in complex care, high acuity nursing, and forensic Level 4 patients.
  • Proven experience in residential care management and multidisciplinary team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of ICB and Local Authority commissioning processes.
  • Experience in securing care packages and business development within healthcare settings.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work across Yorkshire, North West, and North East regions.

Desirable:

  • Experience in single-occupancy residential care models.
  • Previous experience working with high-risk forensic patients.
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation and safeguarding protocols (e.g., Section 17, Section 136).
